Sometimes I miss these places...

These are both in the South Bay, my old stomping grounds. At both ViVi's and the Falafel Drive-In they had some great falafel. At ViVi's You'd have to get falafel and fries..oh, and a can of Dr. Pepper. At Falafel Drive-In the must haves were not only falafel, but lemonade and their baklava.

But my favorite California falafel was at a tiny place in Sacramento called Juliana's Kitchen, but I don't think it exists anymore. (a little help my Sacto peeps)

This photo is from the Falafel D-I. I of course would order minus the pickle~ ICK!
So a couple of days ago when I was really missing some good falafel I decided I just had to have some. So I went to a couple of stores for the key ingredients. Fresh & Easy has super fresh pita bread at all times. They also have some wonderful Tzatziki~some of the best I've had and it's packed with tons of cucumbers! And of course you need falafel mix, hummus, tomatoes, lettuce, and some cucumbers. This was the very first time I've made falafel from scratch, mainly because I can't find some premade falafel, so I bought the Near East mix, now I know what I'd do different. I'd use a different pan and more oil to fry the little boogers in.
I really think I can master the falafel making the next time, with the above mentioned changes of course.

And then, there's this..
Hobee's blueberry Coffee Cake

If I could only master this one!
So if any of my Nor Cal friends care to meet me at Hobee's~M, Nicole, Holly, Patty, John, Paul? Laurie...wanna fly to San Jose with me? Anyone...anyone....Bueller...
