I would blog more! It really has been a long time~ WOW!
Well, I do things when I'm not at Mystic Paper. Really!
Besides moving once again this past Summer into a larger even cuter house than before, in the same Historic neighborhood, just back over to Grand. I am now taking an upholstery class!
I can't even tell you how excited I am about it. I have been wanting to know how to do this ever since I can remember. My Mom's best friend Mary did upholstery and I was always intrigued by the furniture that was half taken apart in her garage and up on a pedestal. Okay, it was a table...but some furniture deserves a pedestal doesn't it?
This is my very first project, some of you might recognize it from our husband holding area at the shop. I've had some of the fabric I'm using on it for a couple of years and another for at least 6 months. I can't wait to have the finished project done. If you know me, you might know that I really don't have much patience, I want instant gratification! That's why I did graphic design for so many years.

It is a little frumpy isn't it? Last week I decided to paint the wood, so I brought another chair to work on while the paint was drying! I don't want to have any idle time.
Don't you just love the stained hideous 80's country fabric? Well, it has good bones as they say.
Here is a close up of the swan on the arm. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this one. I don't have any fabric in mind and I'm not sure if I want to change the wood in any way. This one will be a play it by ear chair for sure.
I didn't think it was that old at first, but once I took it apart...there is horse hair stuffing and the seat cushion has coiled springs! You just don't see that much these days. The chair has been recovered so many times that the burlap webbing underneath is disintegrating and there isn't much wood left for more staples. Poor little old chair...I'll show you what transpires in a few weeks!

I just stop thinking about the lady that said "don't you just make things all day?" In the words of my daughter "she's a stupid head dummy". Good luck with your class. I love the husband chair.
